Once upon a time, many Chinese people learned how to be a good person from a famous master. The master told them stories and taught them theories about what’s a good person and how a good person should do when (s)he was in a serious situation. Everyone did their best to remember the theories and tried to do things positively.
One day, the master said: “you all have become good persons and will graduate after a final exam. The exam will be held on Xumi mountain at 2:00pm tomorrow, which is 200 kilometers from here. Hope you will be there on time and may you succeed! “
Next day, these people were running toward the exam place, climbing several mountains and passing two rivers. When they were passing a one-way bridge on the second river, a person ask for help in flood: ” Help! Help! I droped down from the bridge and I can’t swim!”
Everybody said:”Sorry! It’s not I don’t want to save you but I don’t have time because I have to catch up with my final exam so that I can be a good person.”
Watching the person in the flood, only one said: “Yes, I do have a most important exam but I can’t leave you in the water. ” After that, he jumped into the flood and saved the person. It was so late that he reached the final exam place after 3:00pm. Looking at the ground, he said:” Sorry master, I’m too late. I…”
The master smiled and looked at him, said: “It’s not late. Only you have passed!”
